Killing connectivity for Garuda, Citilink

It was one of the faster installations and activations for a new inflight connectivity customer. In under a year Indonesia's Citilink went from agreement to contract to installation to activation of its onboard WiFi solution, powered by Inmarsat's GX Aviation and managed by Mahata Aero Teknologi (MAT). Now that deal – and the associated installations on Garuda and Sriwijaya – appears dead.

Mahata secures additional funding to support Garuda GX rollout

Mahata Aero Technology (MAT) secured an additional $21 million in funding to help accelerate the growth of its budding inflight connectivity business. Garuda, Inmarsat ink contract on GX inflight wifi

Indonesian national carrier Garuda is expanding its inflight wifi commitment with Inmarsat’s GX Aviation solution. The move follows the selection earlier this year by Citilink, an LCC carrier in the Garuda Group, to install the same kit. The signed contract also quashes any hopes Global Eagle still had of resuscitating its deal with the carrier.
