Pushing the Single European Sky forward

23 September 2020 By Seth Miller Leave a Comment

Europe mostly eliminated borders on the ground, allowing for the smooth passage of people and goods, but in the skies the story is very different. Switching between 37 service providers and 63 ATC centers results in inefficient flight routings, longer trip times, increased delays, and excess fuel burn causing surplus carbon emissions. After years of debate the Single European Sky (SES), addressing these issues, is set to move forward.

PaxEx Premium: Viasat, Inmarsat continue the EAN legal battle

25 February 2019 By Seth Miller

The Inmarsat EAN antenna is tiny. That's great news for airlines considering the solution (though the system uses a few of these, not just one)

The wheels of justice may turn slowly, but they press forward as Viasat continues its efforts to see Inmarsat's European Aviation Network (EAN) shuttered. The company won a ruling in Belgium that will see some of the open questions passed to the European Court of Justice (ECJ), reaching the top legal threshold and potentially putting an end to the wrangling. Alas, no one expects the answers to come quickly.
