PaxEx Premium: A pleasant surprisESA

4 April 2019 By Seth Miller

Astronics and Phasor aim to have their ESA flying by 2021

The only official announcement around electronically steered antennae (ESA) for commercial aircraft this week at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg came from Gogo. And it probably was the least significant ESA story from the show. Instead, a surprise from a different supplier stole the spotlight.

Competition is generally good news for customers and bad news for the company that dominates a market. The recent strategic partnership announcement by Inmarsat and Panasonic Avionics will bring competition to the on-board terminal hardware for the Global Xpress (GX) inflight connectivity solution. Today's exclusive provider Honeywell appears unfazed – and even optimistic – at the developments.

PaxEx Premium: Digging deeper on the Inmarsat/Panasonic strategic partnership

3 October 2018 By Seth Miller
