JetBlue pick Paris for Transatlantic growth

Huge overhead bins, bright IFE screens, and the fun lighting overhead all contribute to a more comfortable ride to London on the JetBlue A321LR

Next up across the Atlantic for JetBlue: Paris. The carrier announced the French capital as its second transatlantic market, with service planned to launch in Summer 2023. Flights to Charles de Gaulle Airport will initially operate from JetBlue’s main hub at New York’s JFK airport, with flights from Boston following.

France bans short-haul flights, minimal route impact expected

Short flights are no more in France. A new climate-focused bill is on the path to becoming finalized, and among the new policies is a prohibition on air service for domestic routes that can be served by train in less than 2.5 hours.

Air France secures €4 billion, (maybe) cedes Orly slots

The French government likely just spent the most money ever on airport landing slots. A €4 billion deal to recapitalize the Air France-KLM group will see a token divestment of operating slots at Paris-Orly airport, assuming a competitor is keen.

Air France goes all-in on RFID bag tracking

Some of the new conveyor belt systems being installed in 2017 to move checked bags between terminals at CDG; RFID is now joining the gear to make the system even more efficient and reliable.

Wondering where your checked bag is? Air France will soon have more and better data to help answer that question for passengers as the carrier commits to RFID tracking of bags beginning in 2020.

La Compagnie launches transatlantic A321neo service

Upgraded seats, inflight entertainment and free, high-speed internet service officially took flight today for all-business class airline La Compagnie. The French airline’s first A321neo aircraft now operates scheduled flights between Paris and Newark.

WestJet Dreams of Europe: Initial 787-9 routes announced

London, Paris and Dublin are the first destinations for WestJet’s new 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The aircraft will be based in the carrier’s Calgary hub and offer streamlined connecting opportunities for passengers headed to Europe as the carrier adjusts its connection banks to benefit the Transatlantic routes.

La Compagnie finally gets connected, picks Viasat for A321neo

When French all-premium carrier La Compagnie launched in February 2014 it promised inflight wifi connectivity for passengers on its flights between New York City and Paris. Some five years later the carrier is poised to deliver on that promise. The Viasat Ka-band kit will fly on its new A321neo aircraft in 2019.
