JetBlue’s Mint Studio to London: Most of the premium, none of the crowd

25 August 2021 By Seth Miller 5 Comments

My main course choices, including Chicken Milanese, Cavatelli, and Roasted Carrots

With half of the aircraft space devoted to the Mint business class cabin it is clear that JetBlue wants to win over the premium travel market to London. And while loads are light as service ramps up (and COVID continues to impact international travel rules), the on-board offering represents well versus the competition.

The JetBlue winglet under Heathrow's iconic ATC tower, with competitors American Airlines and Virgin Atlantic in the background

From the moment the company announced its plans, there was little doubt that JetBlue would bring a different take to the transatlantic market. The real question was what the execution would look like. Now that the A321LRs are flying the answer is clear: It is phenomenal.

British Airways extends maintenance on A380 fleet, but…

4 August 2021 By Seth Miller 2 Comments

British Airways' A380 G-XLEK as seen from the park outside LAX

The British Airways A380 fleet should be in tip-top shape for flying through at least 2027. The carrier signed a contract extension with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) that calls for the planes to be maintained at LHT’s Manila base. But current conditions suggest not all the planes will return to service.

27 July 2021 By Seth Miller Leave a Comment

The JetBlue A321LR's first passenger flight is to Los Angeles, not London

JetBlue’s brand new A321LR will be carrying travelers to London in two weeks, but it entered commercial service a bit early. The aircraft will fly from JFK to Los Angeles on 27 July as flight B6 1723, a “surprise and delight” service to help with crew familiarization. Future similar test flights should be expected.

British Airways brings back on-board food sales

14 July 2021 By Seth Miller 1 Comment

Passengers on some British Airways short-haul flights can, once again, order a snack or drink during the flight, but only through the on-board web portal

It turns out that most travelers do not know what they want as a snack more than 24 hours prior to their travels. British Airways appears to have learned this lesson as the carrier will enable in-flight ordering from its buy-on-board menu for departures from its Heathrow base.

This story is about: dining, in flight, in-flight entertainment, inflight entertainment, Streaming IFE, wifi Filed Under: IFEC, Seats & Cabin
