Too many award seats? Alaska Airlines says whoopsie!

Does a merger integration still count as wildly successful if it hurts revenues to the tune of 1.5% for 9ish months? Alaska Airlines’ PSS integration came off incredibly smoothly on the operations side, but the carrier missed on the loyalty side. And lots of frequent flyers got a ton of award seats as a result.

Alaska Airlines launches hotel booking portal

Extending an airline loyalty program into hotel earn & burn is a common evolutionary step. Today’s play by Alaska Airlines follows the plan pretty well, but comes up short on delivering a solid, consistent value to program members.

Alaska Airlines teases shift in connectivity business model

As Alaska Airilnes shifts its aircraft to Gogo's 2Ku offering passengers will see increased bandwidth, hopefully driving an increase in the number online. But a change in the way the product is priced could throw a wrench in those plans.

Alaska Airlines gets its Gogo 2Ku on

The newest delivery to Alaska Airlines entered service last week with a special addition on board. Ship N927VA, an A321neo, is now flying throughout the Alaska Airlines network with Gogo’s 2Ku inflight internet service installed. This is the first Alaska Airlines aircraft to operate with the kit.

Alaska Airlines dumps Dallas-Washington, DC/New York City routes

A lonely Alaska Airlines sign in the Marine Air Terminal at LaGuardia Airport in NYC. The carrier moved in just last December and soon will be gone.

Alaska Airlines is pulling the plug on Virgin America’s mid-continent hub at Dallas’s Love Field; routes to NYC’s LaGuardia and Wasington, DC’s Reagan National are being slashed later this year.

Alaska Airlines goes Gogo 2Ku for inflight wifi upgrade

We’ve known an upgrade to the Alaska Airlines inflight internet service was coming. Now we know who will provide that service. Gogo’s 2Ku kit will be installed starting in early 2018.
