Etihad’s cabin "upgrades" to trim amenities on board

29 April 2019 By Seth Miller Leave a Comment

The announcement includes lots of big words and platitudes, but it is hard to see Etihad’s new A320 interior plans as anything but cuts to the short-haul product. The company hopes to slash costs with the moves while also increasing the number of seats on board, increasing the potential revenue.

Jet Airways halts operations, continues to seek funding

17 April 2019 By Seth Miller 1 Comment

Maybe it is temporary, as the airline claims. More likely it is a permanent situation. Without money or a coherent plan for recovery one thing is clear: Jet Airways is no longer an operating carrier.

Slots ceded, planes impounded, sales cut: Jet Airways circles the drain of insolvency

12 April 2019 By Seth Miller 3 Comments

Earlier this week the future for Jet Airways appeared dire. In the intervening days the situation worsened. With only a handful of aircraft flying this weekend, and only on domestic routes, it seems the end is finally nigh. For travelers holding tickets it is (way past) time to seek alternate arrangements. Following the impounding of a […]

PaxEx Premium: Digging into the Thales lawsuit claims

4 January 2019 By Seth Miller

With billions of dollars in contracts at stake perhaps it makes sense that Thales would seek extra help in securing new deals. That it stands accused of failing to pay its partner for that help is less good. That it now also likely faces scrutiny from US and international regulators related to suspicious payment schemes and efforts to influence leaders of foreign airlines is even worse. Welcome to the fun and exciting world of supplier deals in the Middle East.
