Intelsat goes multi-orbit with OneWeb LEO option for airlines

11 August 2022 By Seth Miller 2 Comments

A mockup of the planned Intelsat ESA for delivering multi-orbit connectivity on OneWeb's LEO constellation as well as GEO satellites

Commercial airlines will soon have another option for in-flight connectivity (IFC) delivered via low earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Intelsat secured a global distribution partnership with OneWeb, allowing for the development of a multi-orbit offering. The partnership builds on Intelsat’s extensive IFC experience and existing geo-stationary (GEO) satellite service, augmented with the OneWeb LEO constellation.

Bridging the transition: Anuvu details connectivity roadmap

17 February 2022 By Seth Miller Leave a Comment

What does a satellite connectivity company do with 10 gigabits/second of new capacity? “Deliver it to customers” was an easy answer for Anuvu’s EVP Connectivity Mike Pigott. But how that capacity gets allocated, and what it means for the company’s evolution of mobile connectivity is rather more complex.
