During the summer of 2019 JetBlue experimented with a new catering process that shifted the cart loads and allowed the company to restock planes less frequently. With nearly 120 test flights complete the company is declaring victory and moving forward with the plan. Before the end of the year expect to see catering trucks visit some JetBlue planes half as often. The news was confirmed by VP Inflight Ed Baklor in an internal video message shared with flight attendants this week.

30 August 2019 By Seth Miller 6 Comments

Balancing top-notch customer service and amenities and costs is a huge challenge for airlines. JetBlue’s structured cost-cutting program is starting to touch bits that passengers will experience and that could be bad news, especially juxtaposed against a backdrop of the company’s new ad campaign.

Blue Skies ahead as Delta, KLM, Air France, Virgin Atlantic receive ATI approval

5 August 2019 By Seth Miller 1 Comment

It only makes sense that the Department of Transportation tentatively approved the latest antitrust immunity (ATI) request. After all, the mutual ownership blend across Delta Air Lines, Air France/KLM and Virgin Atlantic lends itself to coordination of operations, marketing and pricing efforts. The DoT did hold back a tiny bit, though it is unlikely that will be sufficiently consolatory for the parties that objected to the deal.

JetBlue Mosaic bag tag

The co-brand revenue is great and JetBlue intends to continue expanding that stream. But the carrier also knows its TureBlue loyalty program needs a little more to become a mature offering for consumers. That should be good news for travelers, assuming the carrier can execute.
